Death happens to ‘ego’ only.
Ego is mind’s creation as a substitute when inner light gets faint during adolescent age due to secretion of harmonies. It is like deposition of dust between contacts of fibre optic cable.
Everyone is a unique individual and the uniqueness lies in the way one is going to discover the REALITY or STILLNESS or Self within. This uniqueness gets wrongly imposed on body due to mind and gives birth to ‘pseudo entity’ called Ego. To keep improving ego, mind goes on creating more and more desires.
So death happens to those unfulfilled desires, and fear of death is just fear of desires (power, prestige, money, attachments) going to remain unfulfilled and loss of wealth/prestige/power that was never ours! Just a illusion of safety it creates but deaths shatter’s that illusion too.
The enlightenment or awakening happens when no-mind state coincides with egoless state. This is why mystics say that ‘you have to die’ (as you trust you are) to find your REALITY or Soul -so in a sense they are talking about the egoless state- and rebirth happens with new eyes that is able to look nothingness or emptiness too that is all around. That is everything is made up from.
We cannot bring egoless state because the one who is trying to attain is going to there. It happens in a state of ‘intense no-mind’ state. I am deliberately saying ‘intense’ and not ‘longer duration for many years’ because it depends upon one’s yearning. If yearning is strong enough, then in a moment of relaxation it can happen in this moment itself.
For an enlightened person there is no death, as it has already happened and one resurrects or takes new birth. Mind is biggest hurdle to enlightenment, and we can do something to bring no-mind state and keep practicing it so that over a period of time it becomes an undercurrent for 24 hrs. So awareness meditation is the best option as it can be done while doing any job at hand. My linktree in about for more.
